Has Anyone Seen My Cynicism?
Bill Shade
Was sitting this morning doing my morning
coffee thing, getting ready to go out into the world and realized
an old friend was missing! Now like many of my old friends this
guy was not the healthiest type to be around, but alas he was old
and familiar. This companion, probably a better word than friend
had been living in my head rent-free for years. This companion
helped to shape the world I lived in and how I viewed everything
in that world!
I have a feeling I lost this guy on my
recent time off. The familiar travel companion that I’m speaking
of is my cynicism. I now realize that the jaded eyes with which I
have been viewing some aspects of my world had pretty much taken
over my way of thinking! It is as if I were viewing the evening
news all the time. I had begun to develop the gloom and doom
syndrome in my personal thinking! What a mess!!
As with so many things in my life I failed
to notice this disaster until it went away! Having returned from
the cleansing process of the trip out West the view was fresh and
clean and clear! I like this and it makes getting up in the
morning a whole lot more fun!
Recently it was suggested to me that I break
my life up in manageable segments. Doing this I am not
overwhelmed by the challenge that life sometimes brings, I can
stand anything for a little while. I cannot take much of anything
FOREVER!! Interesting concept!!

Your Choice
Suzie Dawson
Recently I went to help a good friend out with a seminar he was
delivering. The thing that struck me most was his amazing
attitude and incredibly excitement for life. It was contagious.
There was not a person in that room (except one or two in the back
that were “resting”) who did not feel this excitement emanating
from him. It was so powerful that you could not help but feel
it.
This has prompted me to write today about attitudes. How are you
showing up in the world? Is your attitude “life is a burden to
be endured” or is it “life is a blessing to be celebrated?”
Whatever your thoughts about life, know that you will create
experiences to back them up. For instance, if you believe that
“life is a burden,” then you can bet with every dime in your
pocket that this will be your experience. If you believe that
“life is a blessing,” then sure enough, your life will be filled
with joy and many blessings.
The great thing about this is that we get to CHOOSE our attitudes
and what kind of life we want to create! How lucky is that! It
doesn’t matter what is going on around us, we get to choose how we
are going to react or respond to it. When I realized this many
years ago, it was the best news I had ever heard! I get to choose
how I experience life! No one else decides for me!
So what are some ways that we can change our attitude if it is
less than enthusiastic? Here are three.
-
Take a moment to connect with your
soul. Remember that your soul is “happy, healthy and whole,” it
is only your ego that gets caught up in the drama of life. Take
a 5 minute break and focus on that place deep within that is
still and silent and perfect. This will help you reconnect with
who you really are.
-
Ask yourself this question “What kind of day
do I prefer…good or bad?” Remember it is your life, you
choose! Stop giving away your power to other people. Remember
that no one can make you feel bad without your permission. What
a great realization this one is!
-
Act “as if!” So you are feeling really bad
and you want to feel really good. What do you do? yes"> You
always have the option to act “as if” you were having a great
day. I keep hearing this little phrase over and over again and
it is finally sinking in! Remember that life is your playground
and you can create anything you want!
I find it wonderful
that we each have this choice. Life can be a blessing or a
burden, depending on how we look at it. There is nothing
complicated about it. Change your thinking, change your life. It
is that simple.

Dessert
The dessert pick for the week is “Illusions”
by Richard Bach. He is also the author of “Jonathan Livingston
Seagull,” which I know many have read. My sister recently lent
this to me and I devoured it in about 2 days. It is short and
simple and packed with amazing realizations about life! It makes
you realize just what powerful creators we really are! If you
have any doubt about this, go purchase this book!
