“Give Stress a Rest”
I have co-authored a book titled “Give Stress a Rest.”
It was a collaborative effort involving other trainers, speakers and
consultants. This book is packed with great information on relieving
stress, including tips on meditation (and balancing your chakras!), changing
your thinking (my chapter!), and many ways to lighten up and add more fun to
your life! Cost is $20.00, plus $5.00 for tax plus shipping and handling.

The 2nd group is called “Give Stress a Rest,”

Consequences?

Watching the madness of a Saturday
night, I began to wonder if it is my attention to detail that sometimes
allows me to see the big picture. As I stepped back from the chaos of too
many customers and not enough waiters, I wondered what the hell was going on
and what the mad rush was all about?? We are talking food here folks-just
food! Yes, we are attempting to serve it in a timely manner and to maintain
a certain amount of quality and appearance, but it is simply a meal!
Now some in this industry will say
that I am on the verge of blaspheme and maybe heresy. Fear not! One of the
first things I tell someone who I am training is that there is nothing in
this business that cannot be fixed! This is not brain surgery; if we make a
mistake, we can fix it! The fixing may not be pleasant, but it can be done.
Taking that steak back for a re-cook is not one of my favorite tasks,
believe me!!!
I have to ask what is all the fuss
about? Why does everyone get so bent out of shape, myself included, when the
chaos starts? Could it be that we have been duped into a belief system that
states "fast is better?" Ever see the car commercial that shows the family
doing more (and faster!) because they bought the right car? Last night I
stopped in the middle of the crunch and went out on the patio and watched
the sunset! An elderly customer joined me, camera in hand, and stated "They
are missing it, are they not?" I agreed, those inside were missing IT.
I realize today that every action I
take has a consequence and it is my consequence- not someone else's fault! I
must make decisions and decide what is important to me! I must then take the
appropriate action. I will attempt to get the food out in a timely manner! I
will not, however, blow a gasket if I do not. It is not that important!!

because we feel safer that way. Julia Cameron

Have you ever had a week
where you didn't want to do a darn thing? Where your body just kind of shut
down on you? This happened to me recently. What I felt was a huge ball of
resistance within me. After having some extremely exciting weeks full of
manifesting great things, I hit a wall.
So what have I been doing about this resistance? Resisting it. What else
do you do with resistance? After that, I have been surrendering to it.
Letting it be. A wise person told me recently to appreciate whatever I am
feeling and surrender to it. I have decided to take her advice. I forget,
sometimes, that it can be that easy.
The key is to step back and observe these feelings as they arise and not
get so stuck in them. The best way to do this is to feel it in your body and
not over dramatize it. For me, I can feel the resistance right below my
diaphragm in the middle of my stomach. Kind of like somebody punched me
there and I can hardly breathe. Feeling and not constantly thinking about it
allows me to simply be present with it. This allows me to then make a new
choice about how I want to feel.
I have discovered that it is absolutely okay that I feel resistant from
time to time. (Okay, quite often!) The key is not to judge ourselves for
what we are feeling, but to appreciate our creations. After all, aren't we
the one's who create what we experience? Why beat ourselves up for being
human?
Next time you feel stuck or resistant, try this: surrender to it, feel
it, and then make a new choice. There is such freedom in this process. After
all, what we resist will persist. Why make it so difficult?
“Our outside world is a reflection of our inside. If you want to change
your business or your life, start by looking inward.”

Dessert
The dessert pick for the week is the book "The Artist's Way" by Julia
Cameron. This book is for anyone on a spiritual path. Julia takes you
through the steps to self discovery. The title is misleading. Anyone
interested in awakening their true self can benefit from this book.

Thanks for stopping by! Feel free to spread the word and we will see you
in two weeks.
