Getting
Ready to Begin
By

Through
the wonder of today's technology, I get to
write
this while I am not here. Well really I am here,
but
you will read it when I am not here. People have
accused
me of not being here for years and there in
lies
the problem! I have spent the vast majority of my
life
being somewhere else and missing the moment. I
was
wandering around in shame, regret, or guilt for
something
I had done or shaking in fear of something
that I
knew was about to happen. This method of
thinking
and sometimes feeling caused me to miss a
great
deal of the beauty of life, as I was so
preoccupied
with the past or the future. This thought
process
became habit, it became familiar, and it
became
a part of my being! I would go to work
wondering
if I would get enough tables to cover my
bills.
I would spend an entire shift bitching about
the
cheap S.O.B. at table 13 last week. I would talk
about
the time I got stiffed by a six-top 2 years ago
and
just simply wallow in the emotions from that
experience!
Over the past few months, I have
discovered
this way of living takes a tremendous
amount
of energy. I have also discovered it does not
have
to be the way I go through life! I used to smoke
three
packs of cigarettes a day. It was killing me,
and it
controlled my life! Today I make a choice not
to
smoke and have done so for the past 10 years. What
freedom!!
Today I choose to stay in the now and savor
the
beauty of my surroundings. WOW! What a world I now
see! I
only have so much energy and I choose to spend
it in
the here and now. This is the only time that I
can
control. I can do nothing about yesterday or
tomorrow!
I am writing this now, so you can read it
later,
as my wife and I have chosen to go explore the
great
outdoors for a couple of months and immerse
ourselves
in the here and now! Please do not take life
to
seriously; it is only a temporary situation!! Best
wishes
from somewhere in Montana!

We are
now challenged to totally surrender to the
universe,
to follow unquestioningly its guidance and
to do
so while having deep, passionate relationships,
dealing
with money, businesses, families, creative
projects,
and so many other "worldly" things. Shakti

Loosening
the Grip
By

Recently
I wrote about letting go. This is a
difficult
concept for many. We are so used to that
feeling
of having control over everything in our
lives:
personally and professionally. To really let
go
feels like a total loss of control. Without it,
what
do we have? Peace of mind, that is what we have.
Peace
of mind can only be attained when we begin to
let go
and trust.
This
has been a big lesson for me lately. For the
past 2
years, I have had a challenge holding my pen as
I
write. I could not get comfortable with the grip.
It was
either too loose or way too tight (usually the
latter).
You may wonder how this can happen. After
all,
writing is so natural. We have been doing it
most
of our lives. Well trust me, it did happen.
A very
wise woman recently suggested that I loosen the
grip
and let it flow. She said that something is
trying
to be expressed through me. I shared with her
that
when I just let it flow, my pen goes all over the
place.
She said, "This is good! It doesnt have to
be
tame or pretty, just let the energy flow through
you."
This
advice has changed my life. The way I was
gripping
my pen was very reflective of the control I
was
exerting in my life. Since I have loosened the
grip
on my pen, I have also loosened the grip on the
rest
of my life. (For this, my husband is very
grateful!)
I cannot tell you how incredibly FREE this
feels.
Yes- FREEDOM is a good word for it!
Life
is so much more enjoyable when we relax and let
it
flow, as opposed to struggling and fighting our way
through.
Trust me on this one. Why not try loosening
the
grip in your life? It is much easier to flow with
the
river of life, instead of constantly trying to
paddle
upstream.

Dessert
The
dessert pick for the week is "Living In The Light"
by
Shakti Gawain. It is a favorite that has been
around
for a while. She is a living, breathing
example
of completely letting go and following your
internal
guidance. I highly recommend this book for
anyone
who is ready to release the struggle and flow
with
life.
