Welcome to Background Information of Hospitality and Food service Food service in inns and hotels Although most inns and hotels have always offered some food services, the importance for a long time have been on the more profitable room income. Food services in general offer only a small profit margin. Small motels and inns often do not offer any food above a continental breakfast and coffee. However no better hotel nowadays can afford not to have a food operation in house or attached to the premises.
