December 1814, treaty of Ghent ends the War of 1812.

January 8 1815 Andrew Jackson destroyed the British forces during the Battle of New Orleans. History books say such battle was not supposed to happen, however nobody can disqualify the enormous value such victory had for Jackson and for the American pride.

1)Summary of his accomplishments: James Madison is discussed as the father of the constitution. Madison participated in the framing of the Virginia Constitution in 1776 and served in the Continental Congress. During the Constitutional Convention assembled in Philadelphia he was part of the debates and Madison wrote with Hamilton and Jay the Federalist essays. Madison married Dolly Payne Madison 1794, who as first lady hosted popular informal entertainments at the White House and set the standards for future first ladies.

Madison was modest, whenever referred to as the Father of the Constitution. Madison protested that the document was not 'the off-spring of a single brain, but the work of many heads and many hands. James Madison led the inconclusive War of 1812, which had very few notable military victories, except General Jackson's total victory over the British in 1815, in New Orleans.James Madison was the first President and plantation owner from the south who actually freed his slaves. Some planters followed James Madison egalitarian example and simply freed their slaves.

2) Critique: At his inauguration, James Madison, a small, wizened man, appeared old and worn. W. Irving described him as but a withered little apple-John. He had epileptic seizures. The British entered Washington 1814 and set fire to the White House and the Capitol.

3)From a modern media perspective could he get elected today? Maybe! I see only one handicap, his health problems.

About his private life: Would anyone have listened to any young woman if James Madison would have had a casual affair with her?

You be the Judge!
